The utopian idea of a balanced and healthy world for the whole planet, for all living beings, this endeavour has accompanied me like a red thread throughout my life so far: As a youthful activist in the peace movement during the cold war; as a young adult encountering poverty as a traveller deeply affected by it; during the third technological revolution as a committed educator in actively shaping educational transformation; as an initiator of conservation projects; in building an educational centre in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco; as an artist, entrepreneur, cultural organiser and film producer.

In 2015, all UN member states signed the 2030 Agenda – the largest social contract ever concluded by humanity. The 17 goals describe the most urgent challenges of the future and call on both governments and civilians to work towards their realisation.

In the Agenda 2030 of the international community, I found my values and vision of a socially just world. Even though, in view of the tendencies of the current worrying world situation, the endeavour to overcome the great challenges on many levels is growing.

It is a great concern of mine to help shape this process and to give a voice to the many people who are active on a small, inconspicuous as well as a large scale; to make a contribution so that this utopian idea can take its place in the world.

In addition to working on my own projects, I support people and organisations in the implementation and realisation of their utopian thinking. People who, in their personal or entrepreneurial actions, are embarking on and helping to shape the transformation into the new.

It is a great concern of mine to help shape this process and to give a voice to the many people who work on a small, inconspicuous as well as a large scale; to make a contribution so that this utopian thought can take its place in the world.

Life is subject to constant change. Adapting to continuous change is a constant challenge. To be able to help shape this change is a human gift

In this striving of life for change and further development, the ability to think utopian is a fundamental human competence

A utopia is the image of something that has not yet found its place in the world. It is a thought that can become reality, must become reality, so that the world – the external one or one’s own – can be led to a better one

So my work is always also liberation and encouragement to utopian thinking, so that new ways and new places can become reality

School Award 2013

„Scuola Vivante claims to give space to diversity and to support the development potential of the children. This is lived out impressively with great respect in mixed-age learning and consistent individualisation. The school shares a piece of life with the children. Scuola Vivante organises the connection between life and learning in a natural way and involves the children at a high level. This requires vision and teachers with conviction. The Scuola Vivante is a kind of synthesis of the arts of children and adults which deserves respect and even more attention“ From the jury’s statement
